for the privileges we've got is to do important work.

Your job, your internet access, your education, your role in a civilized society... all of them are a platform, a chance to do art, a way for you to give back and to honor those that enabled you to get to this point.

For every person reading this there are a thousand people (literally a thousand) in underprivileged nations and situations that would love to have your slot. Don't waste it.

When we first started Medical House it was decided mediocrity was not to be tolerated. Be it staff, suppliers, products indeed anything to do with the business we wanted to do it well.

Future of Rugby and future of the Ginger

I, like the majority of the rest of the country, have enjoyed the Rugby World Cup immensely. Coming from Dunedin, a heartland Rugby town, with a world class stadium we have enjoyed the fruits of a great event and the finals will be talked about for years to come. I must say I miss it a bit, not having my Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights booked up in front of the tv!
One thing that the event has revealed though is the precarious state the game is in for little old NZ. I fully support Steve Tew standing up to the IRB and essentially saying the All Blacks are as important as the tournament itself and should be recognised as such. Lets face it, at the end of the day the NZRFU has its policy in selecting NZ based players, this has cost the local union a lot in terms of the pool of players and revenue, so Tew's message is one of cash. He and the board feel NZ are not getting full value for what the All Black brand is actually worth. And speaking with people in the know, the All Black brand is as powerful as anything in world sport.
So, if Tew gets his way, and he will, one wonders what portion of the cash it gets back will go into the wider rugby community in NZ. Read, grassroots rugby. As Chris Laidlaw reported this week professionalism is "bleeding" rugby dry in NZ, and as a result the game would "hit the wall" in five years.
Tew is a smart operator, and he has a board and about 3 million interested bystanders to report too. He needs to get it right, as our "game" or "new religion" as one expert called it, is in for some edgy times.

Speaking of edgy times, our longstanding Storeman Mark is departing for bigger and better career prospects with a well respected distribution company, We will miss him dearly for he provides many laughs, ones I suspect he is not aware he has created. He has a value which I rate him very highly for. Uncompromising loyalty and we love him for it. He is also a wallace, a manace and plonker but again, qualities you cannot replicate! - Markie boy, go ahead and conquer my son, and you know where a cold beavie lies around 4.30 on Friday's!
